Marketing Ideas You Need To Do This Festive Season...
This month leverage the power of the festive season to gain a marketing advantage, show your loyal customers or clients that you care about them, and attract new ones with some amazing branding...
Happy New Week,
We're now in the month of December meaning Christmas and the New Year are around the corner. The festive period is a great opportunity to attract more customers, maximise sales and boost your email subscribers. Leverage the power of the festive season to gain a marketing advantage, show your loyal customers or clients that you care about them, and attract new ones with some amazing branding.
Firstly, your brand should show that you have a festive spirit. Your branding should match the season! For twenty years, Starbucks have been changing the colour of their cups to red and purple during the Christmas season. This adds a lot of personality to the brand and entices people to create user-generated content which will drive a lot of engagement and traffic to your brand.
Your product or packaging should involve some sort of Christmas theme. If you’re unable to do this, you can do it digitally. You can create Christmas-themed content or simply change your online branding to be more holiday-themed.
Another great way to share the festive spirit with your customers is by offering the option to gift wrap customers’ orders. Some customers may be ordering products from you to gift to their family or friends. Offering to take away the stress of gift wrapping and sending directly to their family or friends is great customer service that a lot of customers will appreciate. You can charge an additional fee or you can offer it as a free option.
You can repackage your products into bundles or gift sets to position your products as the perfect gifts. Make it an easy pick for any customer that may struggle to find gifts for their family and friends. Enhancing the customer experience with gift wrapping, notes for gifts shipped directly to recipients and to and from tags will build strong brand loyalty.
One of my favourite marketing campaigns is the ‘12 Days of Christmas Sale’, a 12-day campaign where each day you unveil something special to your customers. This could be content, daily offers, and prizes to incentivise sales. It’s a good way to build a lot of excitement, anticipation, and engagement. It gives customers a reason to visit your store or page each day and they may check out with some items. How you roll out your ‘12 days of Christmas Sale’ campaign is entirely up to you. Just make sure you find a way to cut through the digital noise, capture attention and engage your audience.
The Christmas period is a great time to give back to your community or to a charity that is relevant to your business or aligns with your key values. You can set up a charity initiative bringing customers together to help towards a great cause. Not only does this generate good PR but most importantly it’s a great way to impact other people’s lives in a positive way. This could be anything from running a soup kitchen, donating some money, or giving away hampers to some charities.
Hosting holiday events such as Christmas lunches or parties is a great time to connect with your staff, clients, and customers. Relationships in business are key and events are a great way to maintain these relationships. This is also an opportunity to celebrate your success and the good work you and your team have done. You can give out gift bags with your branding, who doesn’t like free stuff?? Small gestures like this can go a long way.
Most importantly, spread the Christmas cheer! Wish your customers a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year by email or social media. Marketing doesn’t always have to lead to sales, simple gestures like this show the human side of your business and is a great way to engage with your customers and build brand loyalty.
You still have enough time to prepare and maximise sales this festive season. As mentioned earlier, It's a great opportunity to grow your customer base, maximise sales and generate some revenue before the year ends. Don’t miss out on this great opportunity by just watching the festive period pass you by.
Have a good week!
