Happy New Week!
I'm currently on holiday for the first time this year and I can't explain how refreshing it is to be in another country. It’s been great to get away from my busy schedule and have time to myself. I promised not to do any work this whole trip and I was pretty successful. Other than responding to a few emails and writing this newsletter, I’ve been focused on relaxing, having fun, and exploring. There are a lot of reasons why going on holiday is important but here are my main ones;
Traveling is great for expanding your horizons. You recognise how vast and diverse the world is and how we are just a small part of it. You also recognise how different things are in different parts of the world, for example, the food, the music, the culture, etc. Traveling gives you the opportunity to see the world from a different perspective. It is also the perfect opportunity to try out new, exciting and authentic delicacies from different parts of the world. I also made a conscious effort to try food that I won’t have back in London. I tried Paella for the first time and I’m a fan! (I’m sure you can guess where I am now).
A holiday doesn’t fix everything, and you can’t run away from the stresses of life but a change of environment can do a lot for your mental health. You come back feeling more rejuvenated. Prior to traveling, I’ve always struggled to detach from my work, I constantly feel the need to be working. Being away from my laptop and phone has been great to have a break from work, it also proves that my business can still operate if I take a few days off. It's important to have systems in place so that your business can still operate without you being present.
Traveling is a great form of education that can’t be learnt by reading any book or courses. Travel teaches us communication skills, empathy and helps us develop a deeper understanding of different cultures. You also learn a few things in a new language, this trip definitely showed me how important it is to know the basics of popular languages. Even more, than languages, traveling helps you learn about yourself. You might run into a challenging situation where you need to be more resourceful and pragmatic. You end up seeing that you have a set of skills you may not have known about.

Travelling creates new experiences and great memories. You only live once so it's important to experience life to the fullest and enjoy it. You can’t take your money with you to the grave so why not enjoy it while you're alive. Travelling also enhances the quality of your relationships. Seeing different places together, sharing meals, and enjoying fun times adds so much more to your relationships. Holidays are a great way of learning more about your friends, you see who the clean ones are, the always late ones, the adventurous ones and the ones who are always tired! It’s always great to capture these memories too, even if you don’t post them but just to look back at them.
Having a healthy work-life balance is key, don’t be a slave to your work or business. Traveling to new places allows you to break out of your comfort zone, take on new experiences and challenges as you learn more about the world around you. Traveling doesn’t necessarily have to be visiting an exotic destination, taking a road trip or a staycation could do wonders for your wellbeing. Traveling is great for your physical health as you’re always on the move burning calories and great for your mental health as you’re taking time away from work and releasing your stress.
Have a great week!
